Music Integration
Paragon Integrates Music
According to Plato, “Music… gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination… life to everything.” Since music has the capacity to communicate volumes about an era and its people, the Paragon Curriculum features different genres, eras and composers and engages students by having them sing, dance, perform and create. Students also learn to discern how one era or culture often reinvents the music of another.
It’s been proven that music education stimulates a part of the brain that other types of instruction cannot. By learning music, the creative and uncreative alike can learn one of the most basic things in the realm of education: more effective ways to learn.
By studying basic to advanced music concepts at age and ability-appropriate stages, students gain an understanding of the critical concepts governing Western and non-Western music. This allows us to gain insight into those students who have special creative skills in music, many of whom go on to a career in the Arts.
